Tournament Hot Shot and Awards

Hot Shot Contest is BONUS Fun!

One player from each team will participate during half time of your first game.

Ties will be broken during half time of your second game.

Awards will be awarded to the top boy and girl at each grade level.

 

Trophy Distribution

  • 1st place championship teams at all levels receive individual Medals and a Team Trophy

  • 2nd place runner-up at all levels receive individual medals and a Team Trophy

 

(Maximum of 10 awards per team will be awarded)

Basketball Rules

 

All Game Rules will follow the IESA Basketball Rules and Guidelines except the following conditions:

3rd Grade

  • 5 Minute Quarters

    • Overtime 

      • One 2:00 minute quarter

        • Overtime quarter is started by a jump ball at half court.

      • Sudden Death Quarter

        • After the 1st overtime quarter, if the game is still not decided, a Sudden Death Quarter will be played. 

        • One 2:00 minute quarter

          • Overtime quarter is started by a jump ball at half court.

        • First Team to score wins

  • Free Throw line can be moved up 2 feet

    • No penalty for crossing

  • Offense must make an attempt to move the ball inside the 3 point line within 10 seconds of crossing the half court line

    • Teams may NOT excessively pass and dribble outside the 3 point line to avoid defense and waste time

  • Defense must stay inside the 3 point line

    • If no 3 point line is present, referee discretion

  • Defense must fall back on change of possession

    • Offense must allow Defense to fall back

    • No fast breaks on rebounds.

    • Fast breaks allowed on steals

  • Half Court Press is allowed the last 1 minute of the GAME. 

    • Not Allowed by a team up by 5 or more

    • 4th quarter will be a running clock if a team is up by 20+ 

  • All players must play equal time.

    • Other Notes:

    • 1 Referee per game to help with instruction and game management

    • Coaches are encouraged to teach fundamentals, good sportsmanship. (Passing, limiting fast breaks, movement)

    • Zone and Man Defenses are allowed

    • Traveling, Double Dribble, 3 Seconds in the Lane, etc… should be taught, but not strictly enforced during games.

  • Timeouts

    • 3 Fulls (60 seconds)

    • 2 Halfs (30 Seconds)

4th Grade

  • 28.5 Basketball both boys and Girls/ Rim height: 10 feet

  • Full Court Press 

    • Allowed last two minutes of the game

    • No Press allowed at any time if team is up by 10 or more

    • Overtime - Press allowed

    • 4th quarter will be a running clock if a team is up by 20+ points

  • Timeouts

    • 3 Fulls (60 seconds)

    • 2 Halfs (30 Seconds)

 

5th Grade / 6th Grade

  • 6 Minute Quarters

    • Overtime 

      • One 2:00 minute quarter

        • Overtime quarter is started by a jump ball at half court.

      • Sudden Death Quarter

        • After the 1st overtime quarter, if the game is still not decided, a Sudden Death Quarter will be played. 

        • First Team to score wins

  • Basketball

    • Boys - Regulation Size

    • Girls - 28.5

  • Free Throws: Regulation Line. Players MAY NOT jump over the line.

  • Full Court Press 

    • Allowed last two minutes of the each half

    • No Press allowed at any time if team is up by 10 or more

    • Overtime - Press allowed

    • 4th quarter will be a running clock if a team is up by 20+ points

  • Timeouts

    • 3 Fulls (60 seconds)

    • 2 Halfs (30 Seconds)

D92 TOURNAMENT RULES - ALL GRADE LEVELS

  1. All games must be played as scheduled. There will be ABSOLUTELY NO RESCHEDULES.

  2. All teams must have at least four (4) players ready to play at their scheduled game time or they will forfeit their game.

  3. The District 92 Athletic Association will review and approve all team registration forms and bracket placement, if necessary.

  4. Team coaches must supply a “Team Roster” before the start of their first game. No additional players may be added to this roster after the team's first game.  ALL ROSTERS ARE ON TOURNEY MACHINE.

  5. No Player shall be allowed to play below their age level. Athletes are only allowed to move up to a higher division. (Example: Grade 4 player may play for Grade 5; however, Grade 5 may not play for Grade 4.) Ages for each division are indicated below.  A player who has reached the higher age level on or before September 1 must participate with the higher-grade level. The District 92 Athletic Association Board will review all player submittals and reserves the right to request proof of age prior to approving any player.

  6. The tournament host is NOT responsible for lost or stolen property!

  7. Three-point shots will count for ALL divisions only if the 3-point arc is marked on the floor.

  8. Each team is allowed 3 full time-outs and two 30 second time-outs per game.

  9. Unsportsmanlike conduct will NOT be tolerated! The District 92 Code of Conduct (attached) will be strictly enforced. Any/all violators are subject to ejection from the remainder of the Tournament!

  10. Overtime will consist of a two-minute overtime period. If the game remains tied after the overtime period, a Sudden-Death period will follow. In Sudden-Death period, the first team who make the first point/s wins the game.

  11. Top team in the bracket will ALWAYS be considered the home team and will wear light colored jersey

DISTRICT 92 ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

GAME & TOURNAMENT CODE OF CONDUCT

The District 92 Athletic Association believes that Safety and Sportsmanship are paramount to the success of any program, and will expect student athletes, coaches, and spectators to exhibit them. We follow the Code of Conduct set forth by The Illinois High School Association and Will County School District 92, and have adopted a zero tolerance policy for conduct unbecoming of participation at our Tournament.

The following shall apply to all who attend the District 92 Tournament:
ALL ATHLETES SHALL:

  • Be accountable for their behavior and its outcome.

  • Play by the rules and resolve conflicts without cheating or fighting.

  • Treat other players, coaches, and officials with respect

  • Not yell at or tease a teammate/opponent for making a mistake or losing a competition

  • Not use profane language or gestures of any type.

  • Agree to put forth their best effort and regardless of the outcome

  • Shall congratulate their opponents with a hand shake at the end of each game.

ALL COACHES SHALL:

  • Play by the rules and resolve conflicts without cheating or fighting.

  • Be accountable for their behavior and its outcome.

  • Not use profane language or gestures of any type.

  • Support coaches, board members, officials and others working with the team, and strive to make this a positive experience for everyone.

  • Will ensure their team treats the opposing players, coaches, contest officials, and all others with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.

  • Support and respect contest officials and refrain from public criticism or embarrassment.

  • Shall congratulate their opponents with a handshake at the end of each game.

 

ALL SPECTATORS SHALL:

  • Applaud good performances from each team.

  • Respect the contest official’s decision.

  • Never ridicule or scold a child for making a mistake during competition.

  • Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches or players.

  • Show respect for your team's opponents.

  • Encourage players to obey rules and decisions of officials.

  • Demonstrate appropriate social behavior by not using foul language, harassing players, coaches or officials.

 

Failure to comply with any of the items indicated herein may result in ejection from the gymnasium by game officials and/or the District 92 Athletic Association Board.
